Unfortunately it is still the case we are unable to commence the quarterly regime of cleaning them. However, we have several quotes and hope to begin the process again soon. A number of residents have informed me that they are experiencing bad smells originating from the bathroom. There seems to be a couple of common problems. The first is the pipes used to drain the shower are prone to cracking and therefore leaking. This is a tricky problem to fix as the base of the shower unit will need to be taken out in order to check.

Another problem with the shower unit is the depth of the U-Bend. The water seal is not always complete, allowing smells from the drain to permeate through. Using a plug to block the drain in the shower is a quick fix to get rid of the smell.

The other problem relates to the toilet. The seals do not seem to have a great lifespan.

The fire brigade was called out in the early hours of Friday morning as there was a strong smell of smoke at Piccadilly Lofts. A thorough inspection was carried out and we were given the all clear. The smoke was found to be due to a dustbin that had been set alight in Back Piccadilly.

I am sure many of you are aware that the basement car park was under quite a lot of water recently. As our caretaker is on leave, this was not brought to anyone’s attention until late on the 4th July. If anything like this happens again, please contact james@plml.co.uk
